Natural Painkillers
Ginger: recommended dose 1 teaspoon of dried ginger or 2 teaspoons of chopped ginger added to meals daily.

Garlic: to cure an ear infection place two drops of warm garlic oil into your aching ear twice daily for five days. To make garlic oil gently simmer three cloves of crushed garlic in a half a cup of extra virgin olive oil for two minutes, strain, then refrigerate for up to two weeks.

Cloves: dab a little clove oil sprinkled on a cotton swab on the aching tooth.

Peppermint: soak in a warm tub scented with 10 drops of peppermint oil three times a week.

Grapes: an Ohio University research study shows that 1 cup of grapes eaten daily can bring relief from backache. That’s because grapes contain nutrients that increase blood circulation to the lower back, which in turn alleviates pain.

Pineapple: the bromelain in pineapple is known to ease bloated tummy and heaviness. It also improves circulation, stopping cramps and inhibiting inflammation. It may help rid the body of inflammatory compounds that contribute to arthritis.
Tomato juice: sip 10 ounces of potassium-rich tomato juice daily to speed up your recovery, reduce risk of painful cramp flare-ups in as little as 10 days.

Cherries: anthocyanins, the compounds that give cherries their brilliant red colour, are anti-inflammatories 10 times stronger than ibuprofen and aspirin.

The things I find while on Google+

[philthy's note: I've never seen this cup in any other shop than the one I found in Prague back in 2009, and suddenly it turns up on Google+! While working in Prague, I had to assure the office cleaners that the coffee stain was intended, repeating "to je vtip!" several times and that they were not to scrub it off with a brillo pad. ("to je vtip" means "it's a joke"!)]

Why? Well it started in Guatemala last week. I was eating in the weightlifting chow hall with Donny Shankle and thinking about the food. The meal that day included a sort of salad. Tasted like it had some kale in it, had some green beans, some corn, lettuce, and bits of bacon. There were diced up potatoes, cooked with onions. Diced up carrots that most people seemed to be mixing up with the potatoes and onions.

Proud to reblog Glenn's post here on the Philthy Way - refreshing to see the fastfood, sugar-soaked companies getting a spray, because they are slowly killing us all off.

The start of something

The first thing that comes to mind is the idea that I won’t be able to maintain this blogging-thing as well as others do. Sure I’ve always got something to say, but usually I’ve already said it to someone – like my amazing partner, who seems to be one of few people to take my shit and throw it back. So to you, Keen Reader, I will do my best to keep you informed, up to date and above all highly entertained as i fill this site with the Teachings of Philthy.

Who is Philthy, and why is he so called? Chances are you already know me, but if you don’t and you like my sense of style and humor, then let’s play. My mate Tom gave me the nickname Philthy and it kinda stuck. I don’t really think we need to explore this topic any further.

I love talking about movies, cricket, cooking, star wars and travel so amongst the jokes and humor there should be some interesting topics to digest.

Cheers for now.
